Hi Emily, I loved your post. I was very fortunate that I could observe a Tawoo class during my first day in Tokyo last August. I had booked before traveling to Japan. On the day itself I had underestimated the travel time from the airport and I was too late to join the class, but they welcomed me anyway as an observer.

I felt privilaged to observe the students while mastering a new shimedaiko rythm and Kaoly-san is a very powerfull person.

Hopefully i will be able to apply your tips during a future visit to this great Dojo.

All the best from the Netherlands, Angelique

Hi Angelique! Wow, straight from the airport to the class?! I'm glad you were able to observe. Was this in 2022?

Looking forward to seeing you at the dojo one day and thanks for the note :)

Hi Emily, A Dutch Taiko teacher recommended following a class with TAWOO dojo if I had a chance.

I was in Japan in August and September 2023 and visited the FureaiーKan B1 Hall Dojo on August 23. Noriko Suzuki-san was very kind and supportive in finding an opportunity with my travel schedule and really put in an effort to welcome me.

I was very impressed by the group's energy. It was focussed and light at the same time. Also interesting to experience groove taiko from a female perspective instead of a male's.

In the Netherlands I play with the Yamato Taiko school which is led by a woman (Melanie Koppert) but the other Taiko Dojo's are led by men.

Too bad i was only i Tokyo for 2 days, but who knows I will have a chance meeting Kaoly if she visits Germany or if I travel to Japan in the future. In the meantime I stay connected via your newsletters :-)
